about the album
Maddison Breen is a trans female, indie singer songwriter who has been signed numerous times to numerous labels, but nothing has ever seemed to work out for her. This year, she's finally stepping out of her comfort zone and releasing her music, her way and on her terms.
Her eponymous debut is a double sided suite of her native brit-pop and indie rock. A nostalgic nod to her influences from The Beatles to Coldplay, whom played such an important role in her evolution as a performer and songwriter.
'You For Me' is steeped in that 'Merseybeat' sound, 'Ghost' - an emo pop screamer about her struggles with depression and gender dysphoria and 'Odesa', a song co written with Bosnian born - Aussie raised - Gold Coast 'hook' queen Amela Duheric, showcases their empathy toward war torn Ukraine. The album consists of songs written across ten years, recorded through the dying days of 2024 and then mastered by Michael Carpenter.
This debut shows Maddison stepping out and showing who she truly is, Herself. Not an industry plant. not moulded by suits. not the boy she was 15 years ago in Liverpool, but herself. Finally. Maddison Breen.
